Signature moment

The 2002 World Cup quarterfinal run is Senegalese football mythology — they beat France in the opening game (the defending champions, at a World Cup, in their opener), then knocked out Sweden and went all the way to the last eight in their very first World Cup appearance. That run planted a flag. Then in 2022, they became African champions for the second time, winning the AFCON title on penalties in one of the most nerve-shredding finals in tournament history. The Lions of Teranga have been building toward something massive ever since.

The ones to watch
  • Sadio ManéFWD
The heartbeat of Senegalese football — a Champions League winner who plays every single game like he has something left to prove.
  • Édouard MendyGK
One of the best shot-stoppers on the planet who has made a habit of keeping clean sheets at the exact moments his team needs him most.
  • Kalidou KoulibalyCB
A wall in cleats — the kind of defender who makes strikers look up his Wikipedia page before the match just to mentally prepare.
  • Ismaïla SarrFWD
Blistering pace and a highlight-reel finish tucked away every few games — the guy defenders genuinely lose sleep over.
  • Idrissa GueyeMID
The engine in the middle who quietly destroys every attack before it starts and somehow never gets enough credit for it.

One email the morning of their opener. Nothing else.
